Post #14: Fashion on Film - The Curve of Forgotten Things

Directed by Todd Cole and with music by Deerhunter, Rodarte's latest fashion film "The Curve of Forgotten Things" (named after a Richard Brautigan poem of the same title) hits the mark when it comes to evoking a mood. Highlighting their Spring 2011 collection, which drew inspiration from 1970s northern California, the film takes on a surreal quality as Elle Fanning moves from scene to scene. Each outfit change is striking and the Alice in Wonderland-esque exploration quality of the film's narrative keeps the viewer intrigued. My personal favorite is the golden armour-like dress which shows up around the 5:20 mark (and is also highlighted in the trailer). And to think: Fanning is only 12.
